Good morning everyone
In the last 2 days our face book page has received over 20 likes, we are receiving loads of messages wishing us
well and also people asking for Lyme disease information, we are getting really
lovely well wishes and comments, we are achieving between 20-40 hits per day on
our website and our posts are reaching between 400-900 people!!!

SO EVERYONES HELP IN SHARING OUR DETAILS IS HELPING SO MUCH!!!
This is a fabulous result and thanks to everybody we are all raising awareness. So please
while we walk and talk you guys share our information!

The other aim of this walk is to raise money for Lyme research and education and we are asking people
to consider donating to the Karl McManus Foundation. Every little bit helps and
just as we are seeing with the likes on our face book  page, lots of single actions can
quickly turn into something big.

If you would like to make a donation please click on the KMMF tab at the top of this page..
now better go - we have a walk to do

Hi everyone, we would like to invite those interested in walking with us from any point along the last 4 kms of our Walk. Or to meet us at the finish point. We would love to have you along.

If you want to walk with us....
The meeting point will be at the corner of St. Kilda Rd and Union Street at 11am (This is about 4 kms from the finish point)

HOWEVER, feel free to meet us anywhere between Union street and/or the finish point. We are allowing between an hour & an hour and a half to complete this walk. So it will just be a  gentle and easy pace to meet people along the way. This would make the finish time between 12 and 12:30pm

DETAILS FOR THE ROUTE DURING THIS 4KM WALK....
From Union Street we will walk along St Kilda Rd on the footpath (the right
side city bound). We will turn Right into Anzac Avenue (near kings domain) and
then follow Linlithgow Avenue up and around to Boathouse Drive Alexandra
Gardens. We will turn left into Boathouse drive and the finish point will be
just past this intersection.

Hope to see you there
Michelle and Steve :)

There is a project currently being undertaken here in Australia called the World Wide Lyme Protest. Over 20 countries are attempting to visually show how Lyme disease effects people's lives and also how many lives it effects.
I believe there are a few videos being released from this project.  The original "Highlights" video was released a few weeks ago and was followed by the "I am" video. Another video was released yesterday and was called "I've Lost". There is one more video to come called "I Want". These videos do take a bit of time to watch so when you have a few minutes please take a look.  It is exactly why we are walking next week!!!!

A very big thanks to those who have been working hard  and are continuing to contribute to such an important project and message!!

Please see below the following videos in this listed order ....

Our promotion day in Sorrento went well on Monday. We managed a photo shoot with
the local newspaper - The Peninsula Leader. They will be doing an article on us
over the next week. We also managed to put our poster all over town. Many local businesses were interested in our walk and keen to support us by displaying our flyer and posters. So thank-you Sorrento!!

We also spoke to many people around town about
Lyme disease, co-infections and some of the issues here in Australia. Oh and we enjoyed a spot of lunch too before heading back on the ferry. It was a big day but a great one too.

So join in with us everyone - lets try to
tell as many people as we can about Walk Aware - feel free to share our website details and LETS GET AS MANY PEOPLE AS WE CAN TALKING AND THINKING ABOUT LYME DISEASE.

DONATIONS.... CLICK ON THE KMMF TAB AT THE TOP OF THIS (OR ANY OF THESE PAGES) TO GET INFORMATION ON THE DIFFERENT WAYS YOU CAN MAKE A DONATION.

Getting excited now. Our T-shirts should be nearly ready. I had an interview with The Geelong Independent and photos were taken on Monday. That article should be in the paper this Friday. I have sent heaps of emails out to different media forums in the last week so hopefully we will get the chance to tell our story a bit more yet - keep your fingers crossed!!!

So all in all, it seems to be going along okay. :)

Oh and I got my walking shoes so thanks to Marlene for helping me with that job.

Its nice to have something positive happening in my life again. Just enjoying the adventure.

Cheers everyone,
Michelle

Our walk stops are now fully confirmed. So this will be our plan:

We will arrive in Sorrento on Monday 8th April 2013.

Tuesday 9th April will be our first day's walk and we will walk 22.9kms from Sorrento to Dromana.

Wednesday 10th April we will walk 18.6kms from Dromana to Mount Eliza.

Thursday 11th April Steve will walk 22.7 kms from Mount Eliza to Chelsea Heights. (This will be a rest day for michelle)

Friday 12th April will see us both walk 13.6 kms from Chelsea Heights to Cheltenham.

Saturday 13th April is our final day and will see us walk 17.7 kms from Cheltenham to Boathouse Drive Alexandra Gardens Melbourne.

We feel this is quite a good plan that Michelle will be able to manage & we are excited now to get on with it!! We just hope the weather will be nice to us!!

Well its been a busy week and my to do list seems to be getting bigger!!

I would firstly like to say a very big thank you to everyone liking, sharing and supporting our walk. All your comments have been wonderfully encouraging and have really helped in so many ways. The willingness to share our face book page and info has been overwhelming. We feel very supported by you all. Going public for me is quite a big step, so thank you for helping me through this!!

We have just had all 5 days walking and accommodation confirmed yesterday. So I will post a rough outline of our plan that in the next day or so. So it is official..... The confirmed dates of WALK AWARE will be 9th -13th April 2013. This is exciting.

Now I am in the very early days of my treatment so I will have to be very careful about my limits. I plan to walk 10-15 minutes every hour and will use my wheelchair for the rest of the time. It is also likely that I may need to take the third day off. We are currently discussing this with my specialist and she will help me make a decision about this over the next week or so. If this is the case, Steve is more than keen to do this leg by himself and have me join him later that day - rested and ready to do the last two days. It will be hard for me to sit one day out but I know I must not do anything to cause me going backwards.

Now back to this week..... This week's focus will be on contacting the media, so emails and letters will be going out at a fast rate! I would like the opportunity to tell my story and of course let the public know about WALK AWARE

Well Thanks again everyone your support is very much appreciated :) keep sharing and supporting one another as it is those things that give us all hope and encouragement.
